What to Expect in The Book of Boba Fett

UPDATED 11/29/21

The Book of Boba Fett premieres on Disney+ on December 29th, and that can’t come soon enough. The trailer had just recently been released and gave fans a good indication of what they can expect. The finale of The Mandalorian season two had shown Boba Fett (Temura Morrison) taking over Jabba’s palace and removing Bib Fortuna from the throne. Now that he is out of the way, Fett has the opportunity to make himself very rich.

How about that BT-16 Perimeter Droid in that first shot? It looks like this show has the potential to nail the Original Trilogy Star Wars feel.

Newest Information

Brand new information has been released regarding The Book of Boba Fett. The spin-off show will premiere on December 29th and feature a total of 7 seven episodes. That is one fewer than the first two seasons of The Mandalorian.

Disney released a new trailer for The Book of Boba Fett which gave us a glimpse into how he survived. There is a scene of Boba in a Bacta Tank, similar to Luke’s in The Empire Strikes Back. Those details that connect the show to the Original Trilogy let fans know this project is in good hands with the executive producers.

Boba Fett in The Bacta Tank

The composer for this show will be the same as The Mandalorian, Ludwig Göransson. He has mastered the sound needed for the Space Western genre that Star Wars is, so fans can look forward to the music to heighten the mood.

The synopsis for the show is:

On the sands of Tatooine, bounty hunter Boba Fett and mercenary Fennec Shand navigate the Galaxy’s underworld and fight for Jabba the Hutt’s old territory.

To see his return will be fascinating. This is the question everyone has been asking ever since his official return in season two of The Mandalorian. Boba Fett has become an icon for Star Wars and is one of the most recognizable characters of all time. His return and rise to power will be fun to follow. With only seven episodes, hopefully, it lasts a good five or six seasons.

JABBA’S PALACE

The trailer had shown Fett and Shand in their new palace. As the new leader of the Tatooine underworld, Fett has a lot on his plate. One of the first orders of business will be getting the rest of Jabba’s captains and goons to listen and respect his authority. Before he can branch out to other gangs, he’ll have to secure his stronghold.

Fett will be able to make his way into the galactic underground with the help of his deadly sidekick, Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen). Her character had proven to be an impressive foe in The Mandalorian, where we had seen her on the run from the New Republic. She was also in The Bad Batch, where she was beginning to make a name for herself as a bounty hunter.

We got a glimpse of her ferocious personality in the trailer. She stuck up for her boss to Jabba’s old captains, so she will be an exciting character to watch as she takes on the role of lead enforcer for Fett’s new empire. Fett’s way of ruling looks like it will be interesting, too. He encouraged the captains to “speak freely,” but there was still fear in their eyes after Shand had threatened them.

Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen)

Expect to see Boba in a whole new role as he embraces the opportunity to become the next Jabba and build an underground empire. The lust for wealth is similar to his father’s. Too bad Jango didn’t leave him what he made from the Kaminoans.

Will Boba allow the captains and other gangsters to speak freely? Or will he use Jabba’s traps and monsters to help enforce his authority? A recent leak suggests that the show will incorporate some big, bad beasts. You can read about that here.

OTHER GANGS

The trailer depicts his journey as he travels around the Star Wars underground the create an empire of his own. It seems that he will do something similar to what Maul did in The Clone Wars and will try to unite the gangs to create a wealthy business for everyone involved. To achieve his goal, Fett will need to leave his life as a bounty hunter behind to become the one who gives out the bounties.

Ithorian Boss

We were introduced to some other gangs that Boba will encounter on his mission to build his empire. The drive for wealth brings him to some interesting-looking characters, like the Ithorian boss. There will also be other familiar characters to the franchise like Twi’leks, Klatooinians, and plenty of different types of aliens who typically remain in the background.

Exploring other parts of the galactic underground will be an exciting theme. Jabba the Hutt was a very powerful figure, so it will be interesting to see who else influences the crime world. The different leaders and gangs will help to expand the Star Wars universe even more than the recent shows already have.

TIMELINE

The show will bring the post Return of the Jedi world to life even more so than The Mandalorian, as it picks up in the familiar territory of the Original Trilogy. Because Fett has taken over Jabba’s palace, there is the potential that this will carry on from where George Lucas left off in 1983. The familiarity of the setting and the characters to Return of the Jedi will allow it to feel more like the Original Trilogy than The Mandalorian can. And we all know how well that show did with feeling like the OT.

Boba showed no interest in rebuilding Mandalore in The Mandalorian season two, so it feels safe to assume that he will remain in the underground and stay focused on his mission to build an empire. Djarin is unlikely to appear in the show, even though it is considered a spin-off to The Mandalorian. Luke Skywalker will most likely be in the same boat as Djarin and remain an unlikely figure to appear.

There is the potential to explore other familiar characters that were introduced in Return of the Jedi. Who would you like to see appear in the show? Which type of alien is your favorite? Drop a comment down below or on the Facebook page!
