Here is the character list for The Mandalorian that premiered on Disney+ November 12th
*The list will be updated weekly as each episode airs and new characters are introduced*Star Wars The Black Series The Mandalorian Collectible
Bounty Hunters and mercenaries
The Mandalorian, or Din Djarin (Pedro Pascal) is the main character of the show. From his flashbacks, he had some sort of bad childhood involved with the Trade Federation invasions. He’s a “foundling” in the guild, which means other Mandalorians found and rescued him. They took him into their culture and way of life, Din Djarin had thrived with them. He’s a lone wolf and a well-known entity in the galaxy.
He now protects the child, a valuable asset that the Empire is after, or what’s left of them. They now travel the galaxy in search of the child’s home. Hoepfully he will uncover the mystery of the species.
IG-11 (Taika Waititi) is the droid bounty hunter that looks a lot like IG-88 from The Empire Strikes Back. He had partnered up with the Mandalorian for a bit as they agree to split the bounty, but he never gets his cut. They are in the same guild, but the first episode may have cut IG-11’s time short, as he got shot in the head to save the baby Yoda.
Kuiil was able to repurpose this droid for help around his farm and for added protection, so he survived the shot from Mando in Chapter 1. He saved the child from the clutches of the Empire when they got a hold of him after killing Kuiil. He proved to Mando that droids can be repurposed. His self destruct parts helped to save the team from being captured at the end of the season. He was not a living thing, as he made clear when saving Mando’s life, but you still felt for his sacrifice.
Greef Karga (Carl Weathers) is the boss who hires Pascal’s character. He is the leader of the bounty hunter’s guild that The Mandalorian is in. He is the one who pays him and sends him on his jobs, except for when he connected him to Herzog’s character. He also tried to set up Mando and turn in the child. This all changed when Karga was healed by him and saw how extraordinary he really is. He is now back on Mando’s side.
Toro Calican the bounty hunter who teamed up with the Mandalorian in Chapter 5 to go find Shand, the deadly assassin. They met in the Cantina in Mos Eisley and as a chance to get into the guild Calican asks Mando for his help. Mando gets to keep the money while Calican gets his ticket into the guild. They journey across the Dune Sea to find Shand and eventually do. Calican turns on Mando and tries to turn him and the child in for even more glory in the guild. That’s where he went wrong, no one crosses Mando and lives.
Ranzar “Ran” Malk. The ex-mercenary who sent Mando on the job to recover Qin. He has a past with Mando and they’ve done a few jobs together. He only used Mando for his ship because it can fly under the radar. He’s an untrustworthy guy, as we see at the end of Chapter 6 but he’s got some money and paid Mando well. He got what he deserved.
Xi’an, the Twi’lek Bounty Hunter played by Natalia Tena is part of the team to go and save her brother from jail. She used to work with the Mando and they have a bit of a strange relationship. An interesting alien species that we’ll be able to get to know more of. Also, that’s Bill Burr’s bald head in the back.
Mayfeld, Bill Burr’s character in The Mandalorian is part of the team to recover Qin. He’s got a few funny lines but ultimately proves to be traitor. He was the one who shut the door on Mando. He ended up in the cell, too so he got what he deserved, just like the rest of the misfit crew.
Burg is a Devaronian male mercenary. He worked with Mando to recover Qin from the prison transport. He’s the muscle of the group and we see him demonstrate it multiple times in Chapter 6. He’s fire-resistant, too; an interesting guy, he looks similar to Hellboy. He betrayed Mando and tried to imprison him on the ship, but ended up being imprisoned by Mando.
Zero is the robot that flies the team to the Republic transport. He snoops around the ship looking for the child after listening to Mando’s messages. He’s an untrustworthy robot who meets his demise.
Werner Herzog’s character is known as the client. His allegiance is with the Empire and he has a gang of Storm Troopers with him at all times. He sent the Mandalorian on a mission to recover a 50-year-old tracer and the target was a huge surprise. The result had made him happy and almost childlike, but Mando was uneasy the entire conversation and knew they were up to no good. He died in Chapter 7 at the hands of his boss.
Dr. Pershing (Omid Abtahi) is the doctor who is under the protection of the Baron. He takes a huge interest in the target they send Djarin to get; he needs it alive. We still don’t know the exact reason why, but it’s definitely something to do with his force abilities. He surprised the Mandalorian during the meeting with the Client and that’s why we see him draw his guns.
Moff Gideon (Giancarlo Esposito) was an Imperial leader from before the fall of the Empire. He is the boss of the client is even more obsessed with the child than he was. He’s heavily surrounded by some death troopers and other soldiers. He’s the one who kills the client in an effort to take out Mando and his team. That just goes to show the power this man has, he killed the client like nothing. He’s also got a darksaber, stolen from Mandalore when the great purge happened. It will be interesting to see how he got his hands on it from Bo Katan, who is the last known character to have it.
The Trandoshans are who are fighting the Mandalorian while he escorting the baby back to his ship. They jumped him and outnumbered him, but he was still able to fight them off. There are a few other bounty hunters out there who are after Djarin and the child. This is an alien species common in the Star Wars lore, Bossk is the most famous.
These are the off world Jawas that give the Mandalorian some trouble. They strip his ship for parts and he has to go on a mission to get his parts back from them. They’re smart little creatures and close to our Jawa tribe, but we aren’t anything like these savages.
This Ugnaught’s name is Kuiil and he helped out the Mandalorian. He saved him from being attacked by two Bluurgs in the first episode and he helps train him to ride one. Without his help, he wouldn’t have been able to complete his bounty.
In episode 2 he helps the Mandalorian retrieve the stolen ship parts from the Jawas. He’s good at communicating with them. After they get the parts back he helps the Mandalorian put his ship back together. He’s a brilliant Ugnaught and an even harder worker.
We see him for the final time in Chapter 7 when he helps Mando on a mission to take out the client and get the bounty hunters off his back. He, unfortunately, he died on his way back to Mando’s Razorcrest while trying to get safely away from the empire and off Nevarro. He was a wise character and will be missed. I have spoken.
This is the armorer (Emily Swallow) in the Mandalorian first episode. She smiths the Beskar Djarin gets for the job into a whole new set of armor. She’s really eager to have some excess to use for the foundlings, who Din Djarin once was. They have a small moment where he reflects on his background and has some flashbacks. She crafted his whistling birds and gave him his jetpack. She’s well rehearsed in the Mandalorian Creed and pushed Mando to go and find the child’s species. He’s now Mando’s foundling and according to her, he must take care of him.
This little guy, “The Child“, is the same species as Yoda. Unnamed in Star Wars canon, George Lucas did this intentionally for more mystery around the species. We’ve seen him use the force multiple times this season and he’s powerful. My favorite display of the force is when he force choked Cara Dune in an effort to “protect” Mando. Hopefully Djarin can help to find his parents and his species in Season 2.
Cara Dune (Gina Carano) is a mercenary and ex-shock trooper from the civil war. She has some battle experience and shows it off. She really helped out Mando and the child in finding a safe place to “stretch their legs”. If it wasn’t for her, the small village they took refuge in wouldn’t be able to survive. She has a brilliant mind for strategy and is even braver. She helped Mando get off Nevarro and fight off Imps and dragons.
Omera (Julia Jones) is a friend of the Mandalorian. There isn’t much information on her, but she’s lived through the rise and fall of the Empire. She hosted them on Sorgan, the planet in the outer rim. She is a krill farmer and lives a peaceful life when they aren’t being raided. She shows off some talent with a blaster and that hints to some gnarly past she may have.
Paz Vizla (Tait Fletcher) is a human male Mandalorian heavy artillery trooper. He is a part of The Tribe and is a real component to them. He was there to help protect the Mandalorian from the bounty hunters guild when they attacked.
The mechanic from Chapter 5, Peli Motto (Amy Sedaris). She works on Mando’s ship and takes care of the child while he’s away trying to make some money, so he can pay her for her repairs. She’s not the friendliest, but she turns out to be a really good person and someone Mando can trust.
Fennec Shand (Ming-Na Wen) is a mercenary/assassin in The Mandalorian. Her character is hiding out on Tatooine because the new republic has locked up most of her employers and she’s a wanted woman for all her crimes and murders as an assassin. She’s one of the deadliest in the galaxy and she may just play a role with Mando. In chapter 5 she got shot, but someone went back to check on her, so we’ll see if there will be more of her.
This is an unidentified Mythrol (Horatio Sanz) from the first episode of the Mandalorian. He is the first bounty that we see him catch. We never learned what he did for the Mandalorian to come after him, but he pleads for his life in exchange for credits, but of course, it doesn’t work. On the ship, he gets frozen in carbonite as he’s snooping around the ship. This was our first introduction to the Mandalorian’s personal carbonite freezing chamber.
Qin is the bounty for the job Mando had to do where he got betrayed on the New Republic prison transport. He’s a Twi’lek and a gnarly one at that. Mando and he have a past, he’s apparently only there because Mando left him behind on a job and he got caught while Mando got away.
This is the Ravinak. A viscous, tusked mammal that lives on the unidentified planet from the first episode. They live under the ice and is able to break through effortlessly to catch their prey, whether they are speeders or full-sized ships.
This beast is the blurrg, the two-legged beast that charges the Mandalorian and puts up a good fight. Kuiil had to come to his assistance. He shocked one and took it home to train and ride it. They are great for crossing the desert terrain of Arvala-7.
This beast is known as the Mudhorn, it looks like the Reek Anakin had to fight in Attack of the Clones. Except, this one’s horn comes from his nose and she only has one, the one Anakin had to fight had 3. She is a wooly rhino-like creature that lays single eggs at a time, she is native to the planet Arvala-7.
The Dewback from Star Wars a creature native to Tatooine. They are giant lizard-like creatures that dwell in the deserts of Tatooine. Much more reliable than machines in the dusty climate of Tatooine, these have served as transports for natives and soldiers.
These beasts could be the Tarosaur or Soarer from Legends. We are not entirely sure of the name of this beast, but we know it has poison claws and the strength to carry off a blurrg. They were rather terrifying and a nice addition to the show. The western feel of being out in the wild with the chance of becoming prey.
Season 2 Characters
Rosario Dawson is going to play Ahsoka Tano in season two of the Mandalorian. This news has been confirmed by several sources, except Lucasfilm. What could this mean for Djarin? Will he team up with Ahsoka, or will she just be in the show for an episode or two? Whatever may happen, Ahsoka is a fan favorite that plenty will be eager to see in live-action.
Sasha Banks the WWE Supestar will be in S2 of the Mandalorian. She was confirmed by a wrestling source that she has filmed for episodes. Her role has not been confirmed, but she seems like she will be a good fit for Sabine Wren. The hair and style seems to be a perfect match, plus we know at the end of Rebels (spoiler alert) that Sabine and Ahsoka team up to search for Ezra. Hopefully we can see all three of them again.
Michael Biehn will be in season two of the Mandalorian. His role will be a bounty hunter that has some history with Djarin. Will they be enemies or friends? We won’t know until October, but Michael is an exciting member to join the cast of the show. A well known actor, his talents will blend in nicely with the rest of the cast.
Dee Bradley Baker will be playing Bossk in the newest season of The Mandalorian. This hasn’t been officially confirmed, but there is tons of buzz around this and we sincerely hope it will be true. Bossk was an exciting character in The Clone Wars and we would love to see more of him.
Janina Gavankar will be bringing the video game character from Battlefront 2, Iden Versio to life in Season 2 of The Mandalorian. Someone had asked her via Twitter and her response was, “You’ll have to ask Mr. Dave Filoni.” Who has yet to respond to the rumors.
Another rumored character to return is Shriv Suurgav, a rebel pilot. He is also from Battlefront 2 and participated in the liberation of Sullust. He is the leader of the danger squad and we’re excited to see some Rebel characters brought to life.
While remaining on the theme of Rebel characters, Genevieve O’Reilly will be bringing Mon Mothma to life, supposedly, in Season 2. She is a politician and revolutionary leader, who was one of the people who helped found the Rebel Alliance. She sanctioned the recruitment of Jyn Erso, who led the Rogue One squadron.
One character that Jon Favreau teased on his Instagram account is a Gamorrean, with the caption, “Season 2 of the Mandalorian coming Fall 2020.” So, he’s hinting at the return of what we know this species most famously for being Jabba’s guards. Could this guy be a bounty hunter? Or will we be doing business with the Hutt’s, perhaps Jabba’s cousin or unknown son?
Chloe Bennet will supposedly bring Chelli Lona Aphra to life in Season 2. She was an archeologist recruited by Vader after the Battle of Yavin. She completed a few missions for him with her droid assassin Triple Zero and BT-1. After falling out of favor, she faked her death and fled from the Empire. Now that the Empire has collapsed she’ll be ready to reemerge back into normal life. It will be exciting to see what they will do with her. Do you think she’ll help Mando find a Jedi and discover who the child is?
These are all the rumored characters for Season 2. Nothing is set in stone and the only official character that will be expected for season 2 is the Gamorrean that Favreau posted himself. If these characters appear in season 2 they will be blended in with the rest of the list.
